Specialist Setting Enrolment Eligibility

Students seeking to enrol at Maryborough Education Centre Specialist Setting must have a diagnosis of Intellectual Disability from a registered psychologist evidenced by:

  • A department approved cognitive assessment resulting in a full-scale score of 70 or below
  • Significant deficits in adaptive behaviour (Adaptive Behaviour Scale composite score of 70 or below) established using tests such as a Vineland
  • A history and evidence of an ongoing problem with an expectation of continuation during the school years.

Upon enrolment, families will be asked for evidence such as diagnosis of any disorders, therapist involvement as well as any previous assessments the child has had. This will help determine the chance of eligibility so that a request can be made for a cognitive assessment through the Department of Education to establish eligibility.

If you are unsure of whether your child will be eligible, please contact us to discuss further.
