Respectful Relationships
The Respectful Relationships program is delivered as a whole school approach as a response to gender-based violence. It is a priority for our school and underpins effective relationships, learning and behaviour in our school community. As a Lead School since 2015, we also support our Partner Schools in the wider community. At MEC, we recognise the importance of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) for our students. SEL promotes positive social attitudes, equips students with skills to understand and manage emotions, express feelings, develop resilience and create positive gender norms to change the culture for our young people.
The Respectful Relationships curriculum is delivered within Health Education, Social & Emotional Learning and Mentor programs throughout the school. The key topics covered are
- Emotional Literacy
- Personal Strengths
- Positive Coping
- Problem Solving
- Stress Management
- Gender and identity
- Positive Gender Relations
