Maryborough Education Centre Alumni Coordinator Wayne Belcher recently spoke with Zana Bytheway (Lemaic), an alum from 1978.
Zana attended the Maryborough East Primary School 2828, and then the Maryborough High School.
Zana spoke about overcoming challenges, in particular the challenge of immigrating from the then Yugoslavia as a young child, and starting primary school, not able to speak English.
After completing Year 12, Zana completed a Law/Arts degree at Monash University before undertaking work in various aspects of Law. Since 2000, Zana has worked at Employment Rights Legal Centre, JobWatch, and is currently the Executive Director.
In the attached video Zana talks about the inspiration she received from her many mentors, in particular her High School teachers who encouraged her to study Law.
Zana frequently appears on A Current Affair and similar programs with regard to employees rights.
