Chaplaincy Program

The School Chaplain offers another dimension of care within the Student Support Services team. The Chaplain works to offer pastoral care in order to help meet the physical and psychological needs of school community members.

It is the aim of the Chaplain to help develop the whole person and produce resilient, competent and successful individuals. The Chaplain offers service to people from all faiths and religions, including those of no particular faith.

The practical outworking of the Chaplain?s role is varied, and includes such activities as:

  • offering pastoral care to groups or individuals in time of need or personal crisis
  • offering supportive conversations in which people are encouraged to reflect on life and explore their choices moving forward
  • provide practical assistance where needed at school events, camps, etc
  • assist in the running of community building programs, such as breakfast clubs, lunchtime programs, etc
  • become a liaison between school community and local church/faith communities, advocating the needs and vision of the school.

Broadly speaking, within the busy life of a school community the Chaplain offers time, availability, encouragement and support.
